Line of succession to the Swedish throne
The line of succession to the Swedish throne is determined by the Swedish Act of Succession. In 1980 Sweden adopted equal primogeniture, meaning that the eldest child of the monarch, regardless of gender, takes precedence in the line of succession. Sweden had previously (since 1810) used agnatic primogeniture, meaning that only males could inherit the throne.
Current order of succession

- HRH The Duke of Värmland (Prince Carl Philip, born 1979)
- HRH The Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland (Princess Madeleine, born 1982)
